Markus Eder, new freeski athlete in The North Face European team, won Big Air contest on The North Face Polish Freeskiing Open 2011 competition. He was also 3rd in Rails and earns two „Night Session Best Trick” awards for his outstanding and stylish performance in Rails and Big Air. 

Last weekend (28th – 29th of January)  The North Face Polish Freeskiing Open 2011 powered by Fiat took place at the foot of magnificent Tatra Mountains. Top European freeskiers competed in snowpark built specially for the event. 

„I haven’t compete on such a nice and big kicker for months. Event was really great and I had a great time. The atmosphere, the weather, the competition level all was really nice experience for me” – says Markus Eder, big winner from last two days. 

„A lot was going during last two days, but Big Air final was the moment of real action. The competiton between three winners  - Markus Eder, Cyrill Hunziker and Szczepan Karpiel was really tight. The public gathered on the slope could  admire Switch 14 Mute Grab presented by Markus, as well as Switch 10 Mute Grab by Cyrill and Szczepan. Bartek Sibiga, second in Championship of Poland classification showed nice Kangaroo Flip Japan. The judges made a lot of difficult decisions while taking info consideration technical difficulty of the trick and style.” – says Andrzej Lesiewski, main organizer of the competition.

Finally the Big Air competition won Markus Eder who had 76,6 points. In qualifiers Italian freeskier showed that he is favourite to win. He was also he best in Friday’s Big Air and Rails Night Session. Second in general classification was Cyrill Hunziker (72,8 points), and third Szczepan Karpiel (62,7points). Thereby, born in Zakopane Polish skier, won also his third Freeski Champion of Poland title. 

In womens Big Air Zuzanna Stromkova from Slovakia won, before Kelly Sildaru (Estonia) and Zuzanna Witych (Poland). In Rails highest podium places were taken by Matti Till (Swiss) and Zuzanna Stromkova (Slovakia). Sponsored by The North Face, Markus Eder was third by loosing only 0.6 point to Jamie Lawson (Great Britain). 

Special prized waited for unsponsored rookies: four of the got there ticket to The North Face Ski Challange Fina in Val  Thorns. Awarded were Mateusz Augustyn, Tomek Pazdzior, Jan Gasienica- Daniel and Robert Szul.
